RSI was founded in 2006, but the seed was planted
long before that. It all started in 1991 when the owner
had the opportunity to work for a tour operator that
specialized in rail travel through Switzerland. The love
for travel, particularly rail travel grew from there.

In 2006 the owner had the opportunity of starting
her own company and took 15 years of experience,
a wealth of knowledge, a loyal client base and
turned it into a successful venture.

the travel industry as THE customized travel expert for
Europe and Southern Africa.

Carmen Metcalf is the founder of RSI. She was born in
Switzerland but always had a love for travel ever since
her first trip to Spain as a child. She studied tourism
in Switzerland and worked in a travel agency in Zurich
before moving to the USA to be a tourguide. She gained
her knowledge in rail travel through Europe by working
for a rail travel specialist in New York. In 1995 she took
her first trip to Southern Africa and fell in love with the
Continent. Since then she has been back many times
learning more about the country and developing the
Southern Africa program. She takes several trips a year
to Europe and Africa to further her knowledge.

Elizabeth Walker is our Manager of the Europe
FIT department. She is a graduate of NC State
University. What started as a summer job turned into
a new found love. She started traveling and exploring
Switzerland and quickly came to know the ins and outs
of rail travel. It's now her favorite way of getting around
Europe. She travels to Switzerland or another European country at least once a year to gain more in
depth knowledge. Elizabeth is usually your first voice when calling RSI.

Heinz Bronnimann is a Swiss native, with over
45 years of experience in all aspects of the travel
industry. His niche is the ski business. He visits
ski resorts all over Europe a couple of times a year.
He also has a vast knowledge of rail travel through
all of Central Europe. He is a certified Switzerland
and France specialist. He now is in charge of the
ski group and ski FIT department.
